The illusion of desire keeps us thinking that bliss is one step away. When we're repeating actions again and again, it's forming a part of our subconscious mind. Living unconsciously means to live out of those patterns, regardless of whether they are good or bad. Spiritual awakening is when we use the tools the Guru provides to live consciously. Living consciously is being coloured in love which cleanses your mind and allows you to use your mind righteously instead of it using you.

It's easy to get caught up in our own head and feel that everything is centred around us and our feelings. Guru Nanak Dev Ji brings the vastness and grand scale of this creation to our awareness.
